"Fatal" security flaws in medical devices

A team of researchers have discovered vulnerabilities in the software of medical implants and devices. The researchers were able to change settings on the devices and in some cases, shut them down entirely as well as steal sensitive patient data.

Remote software on pacemakers provide medical providers with options to manage a patient's condition remotely. This also exposes these devices to threats from malicious actors who can infiltrate communications between the devices and the software. In some cases, the researchers were also able to conduct denial of service attacks (DdOS). This poses a great risk for the patients.

While the list of manufacturers has not been released, some manufacturers have issued warnings to patients.
